Review of the Kindle DX
We have a hands on look at this larger screened e-reader from Amazon. How does it compare to the original? Watch our review to see!

It's Amazon's new large form eBook reader. It's geared towards those of us who read textbooks, newspapers and periodicals. The Kindle DX looks and feels a lot like the Kindle two but the DX has a much larger screen at 9.7 inches compared to the Kindle 2 which comes in at only six inches. The DX is slim-it's just over one third of an inch thick. It's really slim but it is quite a bit heavier than the Kindle two. With that said, it's still not too heavy to carry or pack around. I found it very easy to use. The minute you get it out of the box it's ready to go. The Kindle was programmed already to know who I was, and it came ready with 3G wireless. So in the first few minutes of having it, I was already buying and reading books. This was one of the simplest installation processes I've ever seen. Frankly, this is how every computer should be. If the Dells, HP's and Microsoft's of the world paid attention to this device and did the same thing on a desktop they would have a winner in my opinion. The Kindle as I said comes ready with 3G wireless. This lets you download books directly from the Kindle-which is great so you don't have to worry about finding a wi-fi hotspot or rely on your computer to get books. You can surf the net and look at blogs like our TopTenREVIEWS blog that we loaded here. I really liked how fast you're able to buy a book and download it. Amazon promises you can get books in under 60 seconds and they really hold true to that. You don't have to mess around with credit cards, it's just one simple click to buy the book and then the rest is handled by Amazon dot com. I do wish however that Amazon had more sort functions when traversing their store. Once you've purchased some books, magazines, or newspapers you'll find it's a pleasant experience to read with the 16 shades of gray. You can also change the font size by clicking on the text button on the Qwerty keyboard-This way you can get the text large enough so you can read without using reading glasses. But if you don't feel like reading, it has a nice text to speech feature so you can listen to the book instead. This is great if you're reading on the plane, but didn't quite get to finish the book on the flights so instead you finish it by listening to it as you drive home instead. The auto-rotating screen is great. You can change the view from portrait to landscape depending on what you're looking at. But in the landscape mode the buttons can get a little awkward to use. The DX has over three gigabytes of storage so it can hold up to 35 hundred books and documents. The DX holds more information, has additional features and is larger than the Kindle two so as you can expect, it's also more expensive coming in at 489 dollars. Overall, I enjoyed using the Kindle DX. It was great to see more on the bigger screen and it gave a great digital reading experience.
